An earthquake measuring 5.9 magnitude shook the Pangandaran region of West Java on Saturday, May 18, 2019, at around 08.51 local time.
According to information from the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), the epicenter occurred at 219 km southeast of Pangandaran Regency, West Java, or at 9.68 LS, 108.57 BT.
Earthquake shocks were felt with the strength of MMI II - III in Pangandaran region, II - III MMI in Tasikmalaya, II - III MMI in Cilacap, II - III MMI in Banyumas, II - III MMI in Karangkates, II - III MMI in Blitar, II - MMI III in Tulungagung, II - III MMI in Banjarnegara, II - III MMI in Kebumen, II - III MMI in Bantul and II - III MMI in the Solo region.
The quake was 32 km deep and had no tsunami potential. Until this news was revealed, there was no information about the damage around the earthquake affected area.
