An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.3 shook the Papua region on Thursday, June 20, 2019 around 00:24:50 local time.

According to the information from the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), the epicenter was located on land with coordinates at 2.22 LS, 138.60 BT, 35 km northeast of Mamberamo Tengah, Province of Papua.

The earthquake epicenter was located at 10 km deep and was felt (MMI) III-IV in Sarmi, II-III in Sentani, I-II in Wamena. There was no tsunami potential.

The movement on the surface was strong enough for residents who were in places near the epicenter to be frightened.

At the time of this report there is no information on the number of victims or estimate of material damages.
